What is New Thing?

New Thing is a platform that combines AR technology with rewards to create engaging and memorable marketing campaigns. It helps businesses drive customer engagement, increase foot traffic, and enhance user interaction by integrating cutting-edge AR experiences with tangible rewards.

How does New Thing work?

New Thing integrates augmented reality (AR) with rewards to enhance your marketing strategies. By using AR, New Thing engages users interactively, allowing them to unlock rewards through specific actions within advertisements, social media platforms, or even in physical locations. The process is seamless, requiring no coding skills, 3D knowledge or complex setup.

What are the differences between Lens Thing and Journey Thing?

Lens Thing and Journey Thing are two products offered by New Thing.

Lens Thing is our core AR rewards experience tool designed for delivering a reward to a customer via AR with extensive flexibility on how you want to start the experience, what you want to offer and where you want the customer to go after receiving a reward.

Journey Thing is a multi-step AR rewards experience tool. It allows you to create a highly customizable “path” for customers to follow delivering a reward at each step. You can choose to give a “grand prize” to customers who finish all the steps or simply let the steps be reward enough. Journey Thing is great for spaces where you want a customer to do a sequence of behaviors (events, retail spaces, conferences & trade shows, etc).

Who handles the customer rewards?

If you’ve delivered almost any type of reward to a customer before you can use New Thing. The customer rewards are typically handled by New Thing in collaboration you, the marketer. You specify the reward types and parameters, and New Thing integrates these into the AR experience, ensuring that rewards are delivered seamlessly to the end users upon completion of the desired actions. If you have absolutely zero rewards or loyalty functionality or background, this is probably the NEXT stop on your path to creating amazing customer rewards as we do not hold any of your reward assets in our control and are not a total solution in a box for rewards.

What kind of data do you collect?

We really try to collect almost nothing and simply relay the engagement data back to you. We don’t need transaction data, PII, or other sensitive information to make a campaign successful and all you really need to run a campaign is some unique identifier and a live campaign. We will, however, run lead gen campaigns for you and hand that data off when the campaign is complete keeping none of that information. It’s your customer, not ours. We do collect data related to user interactions with AR experiences, such as engagement times, completion rates, and reward redemption rates. That data is never shared without your direct permission (not buried in some legal doc) and is used to make campaigns more successful over time. All data collection complies with privacy laws and regulations.

Can I really run an AR campaign without writing any code or needing an engineer?

100%. New Thing was and will always be designed to be marketer-friendly, allowing marketers to create and deploy AR campaigns without any coding, 3D design or technical expertise. If you want to utilize our SDK, that will require some light integration work but we’ve written integrations for major partners in the past and we know where the hurdles and hangups are and have designed New Thing to avoid all of that so you can run campaigns and get results as soon as possible.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions to New Thing can typically be canceled at any time. We recommend checking the specific terms of service for details on how to cancel and any potential effects on your campaigns. Generally speaking, you need to have no currently running or scheduled campaigns to cancel.

What if I go over on my monthly Reward Events?

If you exceed your allocated monthly Reward Events, additional charges may apply depending on your subscription plan. It's advisable to monitor your campaign usage closely and consider upgrading your plan if you frequently exceed your limits to avoid extra fees. If you are close to going into another plan tier we’ll be in communication with you to see how you want to proceed. Some campaigns can be throttled or ended. Overall we want you to have a successful experience with New Thing and we’ll work with you to do that as reasonably as possible.

How do you define a Reward Event?

A Reward Event in New Thing is defined as any instance where a user runs the AR camera view.
